Piano Coach runs in your browser. What you play, record and import stays on your device.

The microphone

When you turn on Listen, your browser asks first. The sound is analysed inside the page to find the notes you play; it isn't saved or sent anywhere.

During Record & review the sound is recorded, so the app can check what you played and play it back to you. That recording stays in the page's memory and is gone when you close or reload it.

What's kept on your device

Your browser stores these for you, on this device only:

There are no accounts, so none of this follows you to another device. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

What the site downloads

Using Piano Coach downloads, but never uploads:

Like any website, those servers see that your device asked for the files (its IP address and browser), as they would for any page.

The AI coach on a server

Normally the AI coach runs in your browser. Whoever hosts Piano Coach can also set it up to use an AI coach on a server instead, for devices that can't run the model themselves. That isn't turned on at piano-coach.gnsiva.org, so here nothing is sent.

Where a host has turned it on, it's used only if you tick AI coach in the report and your browser can't run the model. Then, after a practice run, it sends that server a short text summary of the run:

It never sends your recording, the sound from the microphone, the sheet music or your other pieces. The server's own privacy policy then applies, so check it with whoever runs it.
